Dubai Heights Academy

Dubai Heights Academy School is an inclusive school that offers quality international education while keeping in mind the culture and heritage of the UAE. Students from different backgrounds, cultures and religions can join DHA Barsha.

The school recognizes the need to educate students about the benefits of innovation and technology. Therefore, the Dubai Heights Academy Barsha campus is equipped with modern facilities.

Students are encouraged to create iMovies, write e-books and participate in school engineering competitions across the UAE. Dubai Heights Academy has tied up with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to help young students explore the world of artificial intelligence. Similarly, the school has an on-site robot called Jibo to help students understand and embrace technological advancements as part of their academic journey.

Classrooms are spacious so students can learn and enjoy their lessons in a comfortable setting. Each classroom is equipped with modern technology, interactive whiteboards and multimedia. The campus has a wonderful world snoezelen room, a fun junction sensory room and specialist labs for Science, IT, Arts and Music.

Children have access to a cinematic auditorium where they can watch movies or perform in drama. Similarly, the school clinic and cafeteria are designed to serve the students.

There is a garden and a fully-equipped playground for kindergarteners. During summer, little ones can also spend time with friends (under adult supervision) in a learner’s pool.

Another exciting feature of DHA is its partnership with some nurseries in Dubai. If your child is enrolled in one of the nurseries below and is capable enough to start formal education at Dubai Heights Academy, they will receive a referral.

The four kindergartens are:

  • Odyssey Kindergarten
  • Kindergarten on the island
  • Maple Bear Nursery School
  • Rainbow Valley Preschool

The International School of Choueifat Dubai

The earliest human beings did not need schools to transmit information. They raised youth on an individual basis within the family unit. However, over time the population grew and societies formed.

Instead of each family being individually responsible for education, people soon realized that it would be easier and more efficient for a small group of adults to teach a larger group of children. In this way, the concept of the school was born.

However, the ancient schools were not like the schools we know today. The earliest schools often focused more on teaching skills and imparting religious values, rather than teaching specific subjects as is common today.

In the United States, the first schools began in the 13 original colonies in the 17th century. For example, the Boston Latin School, founded in 1635, was the first public school and the oldest existing school in the country.

The earliest schools focused on reading, writing and mathematics. The New England colonies led to require towns to establish schools. In the Massachusetts Bay Colony, elementary education became a requirement in 1642. However, many of the early schools were for boys only, and there were usually few, if any, options for girls.

Credit for our modern version of the school system usually goes to Horace Mann. When he became Secretary of Education in Massachusetts in 1837, he set forth his vision for a system of professional teachers who would teach students an organized curriculum of basic content. For this reason, Mann is often called the “Father of the Common School Movement.”
