GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail
1.8 km, Dubai Hills Estate
GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail was the fourth school to join the GEMS Wellington brand. GEMS Wellington International School, Dubai (WIS). The now closed GEMS Wellington Primary School (WPS) and GEMS Wellington Academy Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO). With the closure of WPS, many students and staff transferred to WEK.
It was clear that GEMS Education’s intention was for Al Khail School to emulate the success of other schools. Wellington Primary and Wellington Academy DSO rated Very Good by KHDA. Wellington International rated Outstanding.
Apparently common theme – apart from the name – is that all three operating GEMS schools offer the UK National Curriculum. Where WIS offers I/GCSE followed by an IB curriculum for post-16, the decision has made that. WEK will follow the highly successful (and over-subscribed) GEMS Jumeirah College in offering A Levels.
There some irony in this as Jumeirah College originally intended to move to the Al Khail site. Parental opinion prompted GEMS to retain its original location on Jumeirah. Wellington Dubai Silicon Oasis Academy now offers A Level and the IB Diploma.

GEMS New Millennium School follows the Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum. With the specific additional feature of an extended day boarding facility (known as PACT. Program for Appreciation and Cultivation of Talent) which allows students from Class 1 to remain in the school. 15:30 – more details can found here.
We wonder if NMS is perhaps trying to cram too into the school day which starts at 7.30am. And ends at 1.30pm, by the PACT program 3.30pm – an issue raised in. A previous KHDA inspection report which she commented on the frantic pace of the lessons.
The school states that its vision is: ‘To embed the habit of discovery in the minds of Generation Next. To open greater vistas: Semper sursum – forever higher.” Its mission is: “To be the cradle of best practices in education; transform them into the school of tomorrow.”
Currently with nearly 1,440 students on the roll, most of the students and its 83 teachers. And 23 teaching assistants are Indian passport holders, the school counts. A total of more 35 different nationalities from around the world.
